High School Science Teacher

About the role

The position is for Sumner Memorial High School at Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus in Sullivan, Maine. The campus is approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth and 40 miles east of Bangor. It is also close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance science learning
• Teach high school Science courses aligned with Maine Department of Education Teacher Certifications: 350 (Physical Science) and/or 395 (Life Science)
• Hold or be able to hold a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check

Requirements

• Strong understanding of instruction and best practices in science teaching
• Current Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification: 350 (Physical Science) and/or 395 (Life Science)
• Criminal History Records Check

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers
• Experience with modern educational technology

Skills

• Excellent classroom management skills
• Knowledge of state and national science standards
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
