INSTRUCTIONAL PROCESS

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and deliver engaging, student-centered science instruction aligned with established curricular frameworks and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
- Develop and implement assessments that allow students to demonstrate mastery over time and support ongoing academic growth
- Prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and learning activities that incorporate hands-on and project-based learning experiences
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying academic abilities and learning differences
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement, curiosity, and a love of science
- Provide academic support to students through tutoring and extra help during non-instructional time as needed
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Serve as a mentor/advisor to students, supporting their academic, social, and personal development through the Advisory Program
- Perform assigned supervisory duties to ensure student safety and appropriate conduct on campus during the school day
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Participate in professional development and continuous learning to enhance instructional effectiveness and content knowledge

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred, with 3–5 years of teaching experience in a school setting
- Demonstrated experience teaching high school science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
- Strong content knowledge in science and the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible, engaging instruction
- Familiarity with effective instructional methodologies for high school science learners, including inquiry-based and project-based learning
- Knowledge of differentiation strategies to support diverse learners and promote equitable access to rigorous science instruction
- Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and contribution to the broader school community
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists
- May need to climb stairs and lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to 25 pounds
- Respond effectively to, and lead the class in emergency situations
