High School Science Teacher
About the role
As a teacher with Acero Schools, you will be responsible for the academic growth of your students, focusing on innovation and best practices. You will lead the curriculum, instruction, and assessment, using proven educational models for social-emotional learning, personalized learning, and data-driven differentiated instruction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high academic standards and set goals for student achievement.
- Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and individualized learning plans to meet individual student needs.
- Develop positive relationships with students and families to support their educational growth.
- Manage classroom behavior according to school-wide rules and Acero Schools Student Code of Conduct.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to develop and execute a Professional Growth Plan.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the academic community to improve academic outcomes.
- Show professionalism, leadership, and personal responsibility for daily work, attendance, and school success.
- Contribute positively to the school community and embody the values of achievement, community, equity, resilience, and optimism.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (required).
- Valid Illinois grade-inclusive science endorsement or equivalent (required).
- ESL/Bilingual endorsement preferred.
- Residency in Chicago not required.
- Awarded authorization to work in the United States (required).
Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate the academic progress of students under your leadership and articulate the methods used to achieve those results.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Proficiency in using educational technology tools.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and data analysis.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The role may require participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings, in accordance with the terms in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and Acero.
