About the role
Direct and coordinate the construction of sets for the high-school musical, and the disassembling and storage of sets for future use.
Responsibilities
- Design a set or sets to enhance the overall production.
- Arrange for the use of school facilities for construction of sets.
- Recruit students and volunteers to assist with the production of the sets.
- Oversee the selection and purchase of materials and supplies from the musical budget.
- Coordinate set construction.
- Supervise the cleaning, storing, and caring of all equipment and supplies.
- Supervise students during set construction and maintain student discipline in accordance with the student Code of Conduct.
- Oversee the closing of the set construction account.
- Prepare and submit an end-of-show summary to the Musical Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise students participating in the program.
- Direct activities of any program volunteers.
Requirements
- Experience in or knowledge of stage set construction is desirable.
- Current criminal record and child abuse clearances required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating, or procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, or employees of the district.
- Ability to communicate positively with members of the media.
- Basic computer skills in word processing and database are helpful.
- Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in the field.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to walk and stand; occasionally sit and run.
- Frequently bend or twist at the trunk; may also squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, or reach forward.
- Moderate lifting of equipment weighing between 10-50 pounds may be necessary.
- Good depth perception and ability to see objects/persons at a distance.
- Frequently required to hear conversation in quiet as well as noisy environments and determine the direction of sound.
- Must be able to communicate directions clearly to students.
Work Environment
- Work inside or outside depending on the event.
- Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and other workers.
- Direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of students.
- Noise level varies from quiet to loud.
Pay
$3,381.00 stipend.
