About the Role

K12, a Stride Company, provides families with an online option for a high-quality, personalized education experience. The Keystone Live Instruction Teacher is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher must provide live instruction, support, and guidance; manage the learning process; and focus on students’ individual needs. Math Teachers monitor student progress through Stride’s learning management system and work actively with students, parents, and associated schools to support each student’s educational experience.

This is a part-time position that will likely pay $17-$20/hour. Math Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively apply working knowledge of the K12 curriculum and Online School as it relates to grade and subject level assignment.
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Demonstrate a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
  • Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain and effectively apply knowledge of the State and Industry Specific learning standards.
  • Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance provided curriculum.
  • Develop instructional lessons in alignment with the school’s pacing schedule.
  • Contact students regularly via e-mail or phone.
  • Respond within one business day to student or associated school inquiries.
  • Participate in academic-focused meetings with associated school administrators.
  • Attend regularly scheduled virtual staff meetings.
  • Monitor and report on student academic and pacing progress.
  • Generate formal reports and alert school administrators of any concerns about student progress and attendance.
  • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families.
  • Create a monthly newsletter or update a website as needed.
  • Lead student/parent orientations, as needed.
  • Assess students per policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year industry experience leading to certification OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Math Teaching Certification.
  • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge.
  • Ability to support and guide adults as well as students.
  • Excellent knowledge of motivational techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licensing as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to pass a required background check.
  • Shared view of the virtual academy’s mission.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an online learner.
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other types of databases.
  • Experience teaching in a virtual setting.

Equipment and System Requirements

  • High-speed internet connection (minimum 25Mbps download speed and 5Mbps upload speed, not competing with other household users).
  • Satellite, DSL, data plans, wireless, or dial-up services are not compatible.

Schedule

  • Part-time, typically 20-25 hours per week.
  • Fewer or additional hours may be required based on business needs.
  • Work hours may be required during daytime business hours (8am-5pm ET, Monday-Friday).

Pay

Stride, Inc. considers education, experience, qualifications, work location, expected quality and quantity of work, and required travel when determining salary. The anticipated hourly wage is $17-$20/hour for up to 25 hours per week. Individual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
