About the role

Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to design, develop, build, and test aerospace components & systems. You will work alongside a mentor, learning and contributing to key engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Apply basic programming knowledge to engineering tasks (familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C, C++, or C#).
  • Read and understand simple code, including variables, loops, conditions, and functions.
  • Participate in the software development process: understanding requirements, designing solutions, writing code, testing, reviewing, and improving.
  • Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset by breaking down problems, asking thoughtful questions, trying possible solutions, learning from mistakes, and explaining approaches.
  • Investigate and debug issues, using evidence to narrow down problems and test changes carefully.
  • Communicate effectively by sharing progress, explaining blockers, participating in team discussions, listening to feedback, and asking for help when needed.
  • Collaborate respectfully in a team environment, follow guidance, complete assigned tasks, and maintain professionalism.
  • Show curiosity about how software interacts with hardware, devices, aircraft systems, displays, data communication, or embedded systems.
  • Write clear documentation, follow instructions, track work, and pay attention to accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrate learning agility by enthusiastically learning new technical topics such as embedded systems, communication interfaces, modeling tools, avionics concepts, or safety-critical software.

Requirements

  • Be a US Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.).
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be a High School Student enrolled in a computer science or robotics program at a public school within one of our partner school districts or intermediaries:
    • Mesa Public Schools
    • Paradise Valley Unified School District
    • Tempe Union High School District
    • East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT)
    • ElevateEdJobs for Arizona’s Graduates (JAG)

Pay

The hourly base range for this position is $18-$22/hr. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell Aerospace considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Location

This position is available in Phoenix, AZ. The exact worksite location will be selected based on business requirements and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
