Job Overview

The Teacher High School Head Choir Director will plan and implement an instructional program for the campus treble, tenor-bass and mixed choirs. The incumbent will coordinate, supervise, and manage all aspects of the campus choral program. The incumbent will fulfill professional responsibilities related to teaching high school choir courses and managing the instructional program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach and learn by developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining progress with group and individual instruction, rehearsals, and performances for the treble, tenor-bass and mixed choir program.

  • Determine appropriate learning activities, materials, and instructional sequences, and assess student achievement.

  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement and ensure the classroom environment is conducive to learning.

  • Supervise and coordinate instructional assistants, implement sectional, small group, and large ensemble instruction, and develop a public relations program.

  • Guide booster club activities and ensure they reflect positively on the school district, campus, and instructional program.

  • Ensure compliance with established FBISD policies and procedures regarding fundraising, budget management, inventory and materials management, student travel, employee travel, private lessons, and the submission of entry forms and fees.

  • Participate in in-service, professional learning activities, and staff meetings as required or assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred in Music Education or Music Performance with emphasis in vocal/choral music.

  • Valid Teaching Certification issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience preferred.

  • Effective oral and written communications skills, including the ability to use social media effectively.

  • Demonstrated proficiency as a vocalist and the ability to play warm-ups and vocal parts in rehearsal.

  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public, District staff, and parents.

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues on the campus and in the instructional feeder pattern.

  • Physical requirements include occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds.
