High School French Teacher

About the role

We are hiring English language arts (ELA) teachers to ensure our students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. Teachers will build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students collaborate toward common learning goals, working alongside other teachers, parents, and students to deliver the best educational experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or an ELA-related field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, European Literature)
• Previous experience working with middle school and high school students
• Alignment with Lansing School District’s mission and values
• Required endorsement: French (FA) 6-12

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a secondary ELA endorsement (BQ or BX preferred; other subject-specific endorsements may be considered depending on the role)
• Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
• Training in CRPBIS and related instructional methodologies

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for and expertise in reading, writing, speech, and other secondary ELA content
• Provide world-class instruction to middle and high school students
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Lansing School District mission

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces
• Frequent verbal communication is required for instruction, meetings, and collaboration with staff and families
• May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties
• Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students
• Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication
• Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
