Humane Letters

• Humane Letters I (9th grade): American studies with a strong history component
• Humane Letters II (10th grade): European studies with a strong history component
• Humane Letters III (11th grade): Ancient Greek/Roman studies with a strong philosophy component
• Humane Letters IV (12th grade): Capstone course surveying the Western tradition with a strong philosophy component

Classical Languages

• Latin is a core curriculum subject, starting in 6th grade and continuing through high school.
• Advanced Latin and Ancient Greek are offered for those who choose the classics track.
• Latin provides an essential foundation for the Western tradition through its incorporation of history and culture.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
• Certification is not required for general education.
• All majors are welcome.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
