History Teacher, High School

About the role

Bruce Christian High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School History Teacher committed to academic excellence and Christian discipleship.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective, engaging instruction in high school history and social studies courses, including subjects such as U.S. History, Ancient World, World History, Government, Civics, and Economics.
• Integrate Christian values and a biblical worldview into curriculum, instruction, and classroom discussions.
• Create lesson plans, assessments, and learning activities aligned with school and state academic standards.
• Encourage critical thinking, historical analysis, research, and respectful discussion of diverse perspectives.
• Utilize primary and secondary sources to help students develop historical inquiry and analytical skills.
• Absess student learning through assignments, projects, presentations, tests, and other evaluation methods.
• Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the educational needs of diverse learners.
• Establish and maintain a classroom environment that reflects Christian character, mutual respect, and academic excellence.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding academic progress and student development.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the school's educational and spiritual mission.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, chapel services, school events, and other assigned responsibilities.
• Serve as a positive Christian role model for students both inside and outside the classroom.
• Support student growth through mentorship, discipleship, and extracurricular activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in History, Education, Social Studies Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching credential, Master’s degree, or related field.
• Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the mission, values, and statement of faith of Bruce Christian High School.
• Active involvement in a local Christian church.
• Knowledge of secondary-level history and social studies curriculum.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to integrate faith and learning across all aspects of instruction.
• Previous teaching experience at the high school level.
• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP), dual-enrollment, honors, or college-preparatory courses.
• Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction.
