About the Role

The remote High School CRE Teacher in Principles of Arts, A/V Tech and Communications is a state-certified or alternatively certified CTE Teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance, managing the learning process, and focusing on students' individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through K12's learning management system and work actively with students and parents to advance each student's learning and develop a plan for post-secondary success using online tools like Career Builder and Career Cruising.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively apply working knowledge of the K12 curriculum and Online School as it relates to grade and subject level assignment.
  • Maintain and effectively apply knowledge of State, Common Core, and Industry-Specific learning standards.
  • Support students/parents with placement, online school setup, curriculum, and instructional issues.
  • Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance the provided curriculum.
  • Contact students regularly via email or phone and respond within one business day to inquiries.
  • Participate in weekly teacher conference calls and regularly scheduled face-to-face and virtual staff meetings.
  • Develop and maintain student academic progress, generate formal reports, and alert administrators of concerns about student progress and attendance.
  • Process student changes in placement and complete semester and end-of-year progress reports.
  • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families.
  • Create a monthly newsletter or update the website.
  • Travel to assigned geographic areas to support students and participate in school activities such as open houses, expos, information sessions, and orientations.
  • Lead student/parent orientations.
  • Work with administration to prepare students for state assessments, serve as a proctor for site-based exams, and administer state assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years of successful teaching experience within the virtual setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to clear required background check(s).

  • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge.
  • Ability to support and guide adults as well as students.
  • Knowledgeable in the application of databases utilized by K12.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and web navigation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an online learner.
  • Experience with project-based learning.
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other types of databases.
  • Ability to support adults with basic computer setup and navigation.

Work Environment

This is a virtual, full-time position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.

Pay

This position offers a base salary of $49,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus.

Certificates and Licenses: Industrial Art, Technology, OR Trade and Industrial Education. Residency Requirement: Texas.
