High School Completion RLA and Social Studies Instructor for Windsor Adult Education. Position located at LP Wilson Center/BOE District Office, Room 12.

Work Schedule

• Tuesdays, 9:00am–11:30am
• Two 12-week semesters: Fall semester starts Monday, September 21, 2026; Spring semester starts Monday, January 25, 2026

Pay

$50.08/hr.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to instruct RLA and Social Studies according to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
• Proficient computer skills
• Must meet Windsor Board of Education requirements for this position
• Must maintain Adult Education Endorsement (endorsement 107) and provide a copy to the program facilitator
• Must adhere to and comply with all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education

Basic functions

Provide numeracy instruction for high school equivalency and work readiness to students.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and CCSS; demonstrates knowledge of Connecticut Competency System (CCS) including CASAS Competencies; uses CASAS Pre/Post Assessment results to plan and differentiate instruction; effectively communicates with students; provides out-of-class instruction/assistance; works with Program Facilitator on CCS implementation; uses Blended Learning Environment Model; attends staff meetings at semester start and as needed; strongly encouraged to attend annual Awards Ceremony and annual CAACE Conference in March
• Pupil and Classroom Management: Arrives on time for all scheduled classes; supervises assigned class at all times; effectively organizes time, space, materials, and equipment; establishes positive learning environment and enforces student behavior contracts; follows up with students who have poor attendance; enters timely and accurate attendance in LACES reporting system
• Assessment: Effectively assesses student needs and progress using CASAS Assessment System with guidance from Program Facilitators
• Awareness of Individual Needs: Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to teaching-learning process; helps students develop positive self-concepts
• Professional Development: Staff development offered in accordance with professional needs and program objectives; agrees to and adheres to Windsor Public Schools Professional Growth Policy P4120
• Technology: Knowledgeable and comfortable using technology for planning and instruction (laptop/desktop, iPad, Chromebook, Smart board, projector, etc.); knowledgeable and comfortable using Gmail and Google Docs
