Equitas Academy Charter Schools prepares students for college, careers, and life pursuits, and inspires them to be champions of equity. We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate six schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

About the role

A day in your life as an Equitas Teacher includes:

  • Leading rigorous instruction in social studies utilizing our curriculum
  • Delivering instructional materials prepared based on our rigorous and aligned curriculum
  • Communicating and collaborating with families regarding student behavior and academic progress
  • Maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations for students
  • Demonstrating a warm demander style with scholars in the classroom and school community
  • Approaching class community building and repair with culturally responsive and restorative practices
  • Starting your day by 8:10am with a school team huddle and ending at 4:10pm after scholar dismissal
  • Daily prep time and a duty-free lunch period
  • Weekly collaborative grade level team meeting
  • Regular one-on-one meeting and feedback session with your coach or supervisor
  • Supervising and facilitating portions of Community Meeting (school assembly) weekly on Friday
  • Attending IEP, SST, and 504 meetings as scheduled
  • Active participation in weekly professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics
  • Performing other duties to support students and the school community

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • A current Single Subject Social Studies credential (internship, preliminary, or clear) or out-of-state equivalent
  • English Learner authorization
  • A strong belief that all students can succeed
  • Demonstrated experience and success working with students in low-income communities (preferred)
