About the role
The Co-Principal provides shared leadership for the overall success, direction, and vision of the building to develop all learners. They share equal responsibility as the administrative head of the school, collaborating directly on all building leadership decisions.
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively for the overall success of students.
- Shares equal responsibility as the administrative head of the school, collaborating directly on all building leadership decisions.
- Coleads the instructional support, professional development opportunities, and performance growth of teachers, programs, and staff.
- Provides instructional support to teachers.
- Provides general supervision to students.
- Supervises extracurricular activities.
- Fosters a positive school culture, administers a program of student discipline, and interacts directly with students to encourage positive performance.
- Collaborates on the development of the master teaching schedule, manages daily class schedules, organizes special events during the school day, and assigns teachers to classrooms and students to classes.
- Collaboratively manages building operations, including resolving day-to-day building problems, monitoring staff attendance, and supervising the assignment of substitute teachers.
- Maintains proactive relations and reports appropriately to parents, parent groups, school volunteers, staff, community members, and outside agencies.
- Implements policy and procedures changes from the board, or the State and federal level at the building level.
- Works collaboratively with other building administrators & central office staff.

Skills
- Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, board and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
