High School Choir Teacher

About the Role

American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a part-time collaborative pianist to assist with high school choir classes. This position would also include responsibilities assisting with instruction and managing class logistics.

Faith and Mission Responsibilities

This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to academic instruction, teachers are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

• Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate
• Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
• Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
• Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities
• Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a formal school setting
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
• Enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
• Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• High energy and a warm, consistent presence in the classroom
• Experience preparing and delivering daily lesson plans
• Experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives
• Ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods along with a willingness to continue learning and growing professionally
• Professional in appearance and demeanor
• Willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement
• Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose

Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach high school choir classes (Men's Choir or Women's Choir)
• Work with the high school choral department team to prepare and present high-quality choral concerts
• Classes will be two days per week on Tuesday and Friday mornings

Communication and Organization

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics
• Maintain purposeful and effective classroom routines
• Communicate with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive
• Monitor and report student progress clearly and consistently

Position Details

This position is available for the 2026–2027 school year.

Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities is helpful but not required.
