Tulsa Honor Academy (THA) is a charter school committed to providing a high-quality, college preparatory education to all scholars, regardless of background. Founded in 2015 with 92 fifth-grade scholars, THA aims to serve over 1,400 scholars in grades 5-12 across three schools in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Classroom Culture

A Teacher ensures scholars are full participants in a structured, productive, and safe learning environment through participation, internalizing class/school culture systems, consistent routines, engaging in meaningful work, celebrating character values, and believing that one can be both warm and strict.

Ambitious Content

A Teacher ensures scholars work with content that develops their understanding of essential ideas and skills by backwards planning, clearly communicating objectives, executing rigorous course materials, assisting scholars in making meaningful connections, and utilizing formal and informal data to ensure mastery.

Ownership and Engagement

A Teacher must ensure scholars are deeply engaged in the work by synthesizing diverse information/perspectives/views, completing cognitive work during lessons, building upon peers' thinking, receiving feedback from teacher and peers, taking academic risks, and providing meaningful oral or written evidence to support their thinking.

Demonstration of Learning

A Teacher ensures scholars demonstrate their learning, including mastery of rigorous course goals, by knowing the status of each scholar's progress towards an objective, displaying deep understanding through formal and informal assessments, monitoring their own progress, and ensuring scholars are on track to achieve or surpass rigorous course learning goals.

Commitment to Excellence

A Teacher at THA displays a commitment to their team and improving their craft by collaborating, remaining engaged, demonstrating ownership for shared culture, remaining solutions-oriented, and embodying THA's commitment to continual improvement. Regular observations and coaching are provided by an Assistant Principal of Instruction or Principal.

Qualifications/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • State certification preferred
  • Prior teaching experience in a school serving a similar population to THA’s is preferred
  • Charter school experience is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

THA's teacher salary schedule starts at $44,000 for standard certified teachers and $47,000 for new hires. Salary is commensurate with full-time, K-12 teaching experience in accredited schools. THA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

The Role

This position reports to and is held accountable by the school's Principal. The role is full-time, exempt, and follows THA's Academic Calendar.
