About the role
The successful candidate will meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times. They will plan a curriculum that addresses the unique needs, interests, and abilities of their students. They will create a classroom environment that supports learning and aligns with the students' maturity and interests.
Responsibilities
- Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs of students.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals.
- Uses a variety of instructional techniques and media to facilitate learning.
- Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate records and follows the district's code of conduct.
- Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks the assistance of district specialists as needed.
- Takes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Enforces classroom rules and maintains a positive learning environment.
- Supervises paraprofessionals and provides written evaluations as required.
- Maintains a program of professional growth that satisfies district requirements.
- Participates in the teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutual agreements.
- Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision-making.
- Attends traditional school-sponsored activities as agreed upon by the building administrator and faculty.
- Contributes to decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being.
- Maintains professional competence through ongoing learning and development.
Requirements
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Chemistry) and grade level (8-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
