The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times
• Plans a program of study that addresses individual student needs, interests, and abilities
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals
• Employs various instructional techniques and media
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports
• Maintains accurate records and follows the district's code of conduct
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks assistance from specialists
• Takes necessary precautions to ensure safety and security
• Enforces classroom rules and maintains a fair and just disciplinary system
• Supervises paraprofessionals and provides evaluations
• Maintains a program of professional growth
• Participates in the teacher evaluation process
• Attends building and district meetings
• Attends school-sponsored activities
• Contributes to decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being
• Maintains professional competence

Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
• Appropriate content/program area educator license (Business) and grade level (5-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years
