High School Band Director

About the role

A.C. Jones High School is a 4A campus serving approximately 900 students, located between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. The band program is projected to include around 150 students for the 2026–2027 school year and continues to demonstrate strong growth and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Qualify for the UIL State Marching Contest for the past two consecutive years
• Maintain a consistent record of excellence, with all three concert ensembles earning sweepstakes ratings over the past three years
• Ensure that more than 30 students earn All-Region honors annually
• Support 11 students advancing to the Area level each year
• Encourage one student to achieve All-State recognition annually

Requirements

• Strong leadership skills
• Experience with band education
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community members
• Knowledge of UIL standards and expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field
• Teaching certification in Secondary Band
• Experience teaching in a high school setting
• Pass a background check

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a large ensemble
• Knowledge of music theory and pedagogy
• Experience with marching band techniques
