About the role
Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus is seeking a High School Assistant to support the ʻAkahi Student Center. This role involves providing general clerical assistance, managing student ID cards, coordinating parking permits, and offering support to students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provides general clerical assistance to the unit office (e.g., managing and following up with student attendance, providing assistance with detention, answering phone calls).
- Assists callers and walk-in visitors (e.g., KS staff, parents, students, vendors).
- Answers/refers telephone calls to appropriate parties and takes messages.
- Maintains and updates high school Canvas pages, ensuring timely and accurate communication with students, staff, and families.
- Manages phone calls, responds to emails, reviews fundraising requests, and assists visitors with professionalism and aloha.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
- Good working knowledge of personal computer and Microsoft Word and Excel software.
- Able to type accurately.
- Good organizational skills to effectively and timely manage multiple assignments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping, filing systems, and other office related skills.
Qualifications
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Knowledge of Kamehameha Schools' policies and procedures is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, performs desk-based computer tasks, and grasps light or fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stands and/or walks, writes by hand, and lifts and/or carries, pushes and/or pulls objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twists, bends, stoops, squats, kneels, climbs, reaches or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
