About the Role

K12, a Stride Company, provides families an online option for a high-quality, personalized education experience. As an Assistant Academic Administrator at Texas Virtual Academy of Hallsville (TVAH), you will direct and coordinate educational, administrative, and counseling activities for high school students. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state and local standards, and fostering a virtual learning environment that supports student success.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities.
  • Research and implement non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards as needed.
  • Articulate the school’s mission and vision to ensure all stakeholders share a common understanding and work cooperatively.
  • Utilize communication technologies and practices to support a predominantly virtual/remote work environment.
  • Ensure the school meets the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and categorical programs (e.g., Title I, LAP, CTE).
  • Interface with students, families, local Municipal Court systems, and local districts regarding compliance with student attendance and engagement policies.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of the school’s Student Achievement Improvement Plan.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff, including managing performance and providing professional development.
  • Manage Master and Lead Teachers and programs.
  • Confer with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems.
  • Coordinate with teachers and K12 Enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise 15-30 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and five (5) years of educational experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) and web tools.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time for meetings, professional development, etc.
  • Ability to clear a required background check.
  • Texas Principal certification.
  • Residency requirement: Texas.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an online educator.
  • Previous administrative experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is predominantly virtual/remote, with reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The role may require occasional in-person meetings or travel.
