High Performance and Compact UV Camera and Spectrometer
About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on all aspects of technology and system-level for a modular camera and spectrometer, including:
- Developing and testing UV detectors
- Designing and fabricating UV coatings
- Creating and optimizing UV gratings
- Collaborating with JPL, U of Arizona, U of Colorado, Columbia, Caltech, and other institutions
- Contributing to the team's expansion into new directions
- Preparing and presenting technical papers in refereed journals and conferences
Requirements
Requirements for this position include:
- A completed doctoral degree in relevant field
- Strong background in UV instrumentation and spectroscopy
- Experience with UV detector development and testing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
