About the role

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop chemistry and physics necessary for Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) to improve detectors and optics.
  • Interact with collaborators at JPL, Caltech, U of Colorado, Columbia, and other institutions.
  • Contribute to the team's expansion into new directions.
  • Publish results in technical refereed journals and present results in technical conferences.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), Foreign National eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status, or Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with a valid EAD card and I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in developing chemistry and physics necessary for ALD to improve detectors and optics.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the team's expansion into new directions.
  • Strong publication record in technical refereed journals and presentation skills at technical conferences.

Skills

Preferred skills include:

  • Experience with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD).
  • Knowledge of materials science and nanotechnology.
  • Experience in developing high-performance optical coatings.
  • Ability to conduct research in UV technologies.

Pay
