High Net Worth Relationship Manager, Specialist
About the role
Vanguard’s Family Legacy team works in partnership with other business lines to serve Vanguards Wealth Management high net worth clients of $5 million or more. The team focuses on helping families communicate their wealth purpose and wishes, educating beneficiaries on how to be good stewards of the wealth, and preparing family members for future roles and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate family conversations and deepen the advisor’s relationship in the family wealth system, including increased engagement with spouses and next generation family members.
- Focus on the client’s family and wealth transitions with a commitment to the client’s longer-term financial well-being and the firm’s generational relationship through time.
- Extend and deepen the firm's relationships in high net worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families through a more systemic and conversational approach to planning.
- Be part of a team that offers a differentiating family engagement capability to the firm, including providing one-to-one and one-to-many coaching, creating a replicable family meeting and engagement process, and presenting at client events.
- Build your own subject matter expertise capabilities to extend and evolve our family legacy offer content and be a co-creation partner with business partners in the larger organization.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in disciplines including family systems theory, family psychology, family education, family business frameworks, behavioral finance, financial therapy, leadership theories, or related fields.
- Certification in Family Communication and/or Conflict Management, or Family Enterprise preferred.
- Experienced practitioner in consulting, coaching, and/or advising families of wealth, family businesses, and or family offices – 5+ years.
- Experience in client facilitation in one-to-one and group conversations.
- Experience in facilitating financial, business, wealth planning, and succession planning conversations in the family and or planning context.
- Experience in adult training, leadership frameworks, process consultation, and coaching models.
- Demonstrated success in facilitating and teaching larger groups and applying new content to generate individual and family change outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in leading small-scale projects in the effort to develop family legacy marketing material and family legacy program development.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience communicating regularly with UHNW clients.
- Superior presentation skills to individuals, families, and larger groups for conference-scale events and workshops.
- Ability to create educational resources and thought leadership with subject matter expertise.

- Travel expected approximately once every other month.
- This role is one working in a hybrid model which blends the best of both on site and remote working. This role requires crew members to work from home on Monday and Friday and to work onsite at a Vanguard office Tuesday through Thursday.
