About the Role
Altamira Technologies is seeking an experienced High-Frequency Radar Software Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership in the development, integration, verification, and sustainment of software supporting high-frequency radar systems in Dayton, Ohio. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in radar software architecture and development, real-time and embedded computing, signal-processing workflows, and the integration of software with radar hardware and operational systems. This individual will serve as a technical authority, guiding engineering teams through complex technical challenges while contributing directly to the design and implementation of mission-critical radar capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Define and evaluate software architectures for HF radar systems, including real-time processing and distributed computing environments.
- Lead or contribute to software development supporting radar signal acquisition, processing, detection, tracking, classification, and data dissemination.
- Develop and maintain software in languages such as C++, C, Python, or other appropriate technologies.
- Work closely with radar, RF, DSP, systems, hardware, and algorithm engineers to integrate software with radar subsystems.
- Translate radar-system requirements into robust, testable software requirements and designs.
- Provide technical direction on software architecture, interfaces, algorithms, performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Analyze complex system problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Support integration, verification, validation, and field testing of radar software.
- Develop or review automated test frameworks, simulation environments, and tools used to validate radar performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with significant experience supporting radar, RF, DSP, or other complex sensing systems.
- Demonstrated expertise developing software for real-time, embedded, or high-performance processing systems.
- Strong proficiency in C++, C, Python, or comparable programming languages.
- Experience with software development throughout the engineering lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Strong understanding of radar systems and the relationship between radar hardware, signal processing, algorithms, and software.
- Experience troubleshooting complex, multi-disciplinary technical problems.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a technical authority and influence engineering decisions without relying solely on organizational authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
