About the Role

The Visitor Services Student Worker will be working at the new Heart of the Hills Heritage Center, Kerr County’s newest history museum that opened on May 9, 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape programs and visitor experiences for the new Heritage Center.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, process admission, and orient visitors to the museum.
  • Act as a good ambassador for the museum, answering questions related to exhibits, programs, and events.
  • Support general administrative tasks using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite on a personal laptop.
  • Assist with social media marketing and blog posts.
  • Identify and implement promotional and marketing strategies with supervisor approval.
  • Perform light cleaning and dusting of exhibit and program areas as needed.
  • Support staff and volunteers in keeping exhibits and interactive components clean, tidy, and prepped for visitor engagement.
  • Pivot between tasks as schedules and priorities shift.

Optional Duties

Some programs and activities may occur on select Saturdays, with events occasionally requiring outdoor work. Saturday shifts are optional and can be exchanged for a weekday shift. Dates will be communicated upon starting.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of the Spring Semester, not on Academic Probation, and registered for the upcoming Fall Semester.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role (retail, restaurant, or tourism industry).
  • Confidence in introducing themselves and the museum to visitors while treating each visitor respectfully.
  • Ability to arrive on time, maintain a clean and polished appearance, and adapt to new challenges.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work for each scheduled shift.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, handle multiple tasks, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Physical ability to bend, push, pull, stoop, climb, kneel, carry, and lift under 50 lbs.

Schedule

12 hours weekly during the Heritage Center’s open hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–4pm. Shifts during school breaks are available but not required.
