Getting Started
One shouldn’t try to avoid Maths just because it is a little tough to comprehend. You cannot ignore Maths anyways because Maths is ubiquitous. We use mathematics practically everywhere. Math improves our ability to reason and think analytically. To be able to think analytically about the world around us is to be able to think critically about it. A mathematical education promotes creativity and imagination while also providing a solid foundation for success in the world beyond the four walls of the classroom.
Preparation Tips
- Analyze the syllabus- Always remember to check the syllabus before you sit to study. CBSE also provides a marking scheme or blueprint which specifically states how many marks are assigned to all the chapters.
- Start with NCERT books- If you’re ready to get started on your preparations, don’t waste time looking around. Take out your NCERT textbooks and begin the process. That would be more than enough. If you use the NCERT Maths Textbook as your main source of learning, you will have covered everything you need to know to beat the exam. The NCERT books are written specifically for students to help them study thoroughly for their Board exams. It includes all of the questions that are most likely to appear on the examinations.
- Note-making- While you study, keep a notebook aside and jot down every formula and theory you come across. Make separate notes for each chapter instead of clustering them together. Once you make notes for all the chapters, organize them properly as these will help you during the last hours of the exams.
- Check out important questions- When it comes to Maths, you cannot even imagine the questions that can be asked from a chapter. However, you can certainly identify the types of questions that have been asked frequently in recent years. Because there is so much ambiguity about what questions can be asked, it is preferable to start with the most important ones. These questions can be found in the NCERT textbook. Almost all of the questions in the NCERT are regarded as significant and should be thoroughly practiced. Besides that, you can find other important questions in specified Maths reference books with step-wise solutions. Additionally, practicing sample papers and previous years’ papers will give you an understanding of the types of questions that are often asked.
Exam Day Tips
- Time is very crucial when you are giving your exam. You should be able to give enough time to all the questions without wasting much time. Try to complete your exam at least 15 minutes before the last bell rings. So that you can give those 15 minutes for thorough revision.
- Write your answers in proper steps. Your teachers must have told you that steps also contain marks. If you make any mistake while writing the steps, you can lose marks, even if you manage to get the right answer.
- Keep your constructions and diagrams neat and clean. Don’t forget to bring the necessary tools.
- And lastly, don’t stress. Meditate before you start your exam and keep your mind away from any distractive thoughts.
