Herbicide Applicator Technician

About the role
As a Herbicide Applicator Technician, you will be responsible for spraying right-of-ways, roadsides, removing weeds, trimming, and cutting grass and brush using a spray truck, ATV, backpack sprayer, or hose. You will complete DOT-required truck inspections, identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain clean and organized vehicles and tools. Training will be provided for calibrating spray equipment, identifying weed/grass/brush types, and understanding chemical methods and safety requirements to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Spray right-of-ways and roadsides using a spray truck, ATV, backpack sprayer, or hose.
- Remove weeds, trim, and cut grass and brush.
- Perform DOT-required truck inspections and identify/troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Maintain clean and organized trucks and equipment.
- Calibrate spray equipment as trained.
- Identify weed, grass, and brush types and apply appropriate chemicals safely.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 21+ years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (5+ years).
- Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Willingness to travel away from home for up to 4–6 weeks at a time (hotel and per-diem provided by DCS).
- Herbicide application experience preferred but not required.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators License (Category C6) preferred; must obtain within the first 90 days of employment if not already held.
- Agricultural, landscaping, or related industry experience is a plus.
