Herbicide Applicator Technician

About the role
As a Herbicide Applicator Technician, you will be responsible for spraying right-of-ways, roadsides, removing weeds, trimming, and cutting grass and brush using a spray truck, ATV, backpack sprayer, or hose. You will complete DOT-required truck inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain clean and organized vehicles and tools. Training will be provided for calibrating spray equipment, identifying weed and brush types, and understanding chemical methods and safety requirements to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Spray right-of-ways and roadsides using a spray truck, ATV, backpack sprayer, or hose
- Remove weeds, trim, and cut grass and brush
- Perform DOT-required truck inspections and identify/troubleshoot equipment issues
- Maintain clean and organized trucks and equipment
- Calibrate spray equipment
- Identify weed, grass, and brush types
- Understand and apply chemical methods safely to meet customer expectations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years of age
- Valid driver’s license with 5 years of clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check
- Willingness to travel away from home for up to 4–6 weeks at a time (hotel and per-diem provided by DCS)
- Herbicide application experience preferred but not required
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Category C6) preferred but not required; must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment
- Agricultural, landscaping, or related industry experience preferred
