Herbicide Applicator Technician
About the Role
DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking highly motivated Herbicide Applicator Technicians responsible for spraying right-of-ways, roadsides, removing weeds, trimming, and cutting grass and brush. This work is accomplished using a spray truck, an ATV, a backpack sprayer, or by dragging a hose.
Technicians will complete all DOT-required truck inspections, identify and troubleshoot truck/spray system issues or needed repairs, and keep trucks and equipment clean and organized. Training will be provided to calibrate all spray equipment, understand weed, grass, and brush types, and gain knowledge of methods, chemicals, their uses, and safety requirements to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Spray right-of-ways and roadsides to remove weeds and vegetation
- Trim and cut grass and brush using various equipment
- Perform DOT-required truck inspections and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain clean and organized trucks and equipment
- Calibrate spray equipment as trained
- Identify weed, grass, and brush types and apply appropriate chemicals safely
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license with 5 years of clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check
- Willingness to travel away from home for up to 4–6 weeks at a time (hotel and per-diem provided by DCS)
- Herbicide application experience preferred but not required
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators License (Category C6) preferred but not required; must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment if hired
- Agricultural, landscaping, or related industry experience is a plus
