About the Role

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Payroll Technician to work with our Henderson and Elko team. The successful candidate will possess a background in processing payroll, communicating effectively, and displaying detail-oriented qualities. The Payroll Technician is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in compliance with Company policies and regulatory requirements. This role provides technical and administrative support in the preparation, calculation, and distribution of wages, deductions, and benefits. The Payroll Technician also maintains payroll records, reconciles discrepancies, responds to employee inquiries, and supports audits and reporting to ensure payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Process and audit assigned payroll items timely and accurately
  • Compile, enter and reconcile data entry associated with assigned payrolls
  • Troubleshoot and assist with employee related issues as needed
  • Prepare and reconcile various reports related to employee compensation, medical, and retirement benefit plans
  • Support and assist with monthly State Labor status verifications
  • Support and assist with the processing of garnishments as needed
  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end tax preparation as needed

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of payroll, accounting, or clerical experience preferred
  • Prior experience with payroll systems, timekeeping systems and payroll processing preferred
  • Experience in a customer support or HR role preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Understanding of Payroll Taxes and difference between Pre-tax and Post-tax deductions preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information required
  • Ability to communicate and interact efficiently required
  • Verifiable experience using Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to stay organized, efficient, analytical, and pay close attention to detail required
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work with Human Resources, Staff Accountants, Mine Sites, Executives, and other department's personnel / cross-functional teams required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to be self-motivated, flexible, and respond to multiple demands and priorities required
  • Experience with Oracle HCM application preferred
