About the role

The Hematology (PNH) Account Manager is a field sales position responsible for representing Biogen to key healthcare professionals (HCPs) and accounts within an assigned geography. The role focuses on building trust in the company, its values, science, and products, with a deep understanding of HCPs and accounts to develop effective territory and key account plans addressing all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. This position collaborates with other Biogen customer-facing teams to create and implement account plans, identify regional influencers, map referral networks, and serve as the lead for account management activities such as speaker programs and marketing tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain proficiency in relevant disease states, patient and clinic experience, market landscape, and product.
  • Drive company revenue by achieving all sales and marketing objectives and goals.
  • Serve as the primary commercial interface with key accounts, ensuring accountability for the overall customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding and relationships with key accounts, including all relevant stakeholders (e.g., physicians, nurses, office staff, management).
  • Establish and execute business plans for key accounts in alignment with franchise strategy and resources.
  • Effectively communicate account plans and lead strategy discussions with leadership to build understanding and support.
  • Assess treatment patterns and referral networks affiliated with key accounts.
  • Collaborate compliantly with multiple stakeholders, including patient services, field access, medical affairs, and operations teams to achieve account objectives.
  • Support fellow team members and colleagues, proactively sharing knowledge and expertise to contribute to overall success.
  • Utilize all approved resources to achieve territory and account objectives.
  • Proactively communicate with the Hematology Sales Director to discuss ideas, challenges, and best practices.
  • Share field insights with the home-office team, including innovative engagement tactics, and participate in internal workshops and insight readouts.
  • Operate with professional integrity within established guidelines, policies, and in alignment with Biogen’s culture and values.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 4+ years of biotech/pharma sales and account management experience.
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology and/or rare disease is preferred, though specialty sales experience in other disease states will also be considered.
  • Must live in the assigned territory.
  • Willing to travel domestically up to 75% of the time, including overnights, depending on territory.
  • Must comply with all applicable credentialing requirements for customer interactions.

  • Positive attitude and comfort navigating ambiguity in an ultra-rare disease space.
  • Commitment to effective collaboration with key stakeholders, driven by emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to persevere and focus on solutions in a highly competitive market.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening, clear expression of ideas, and effective presentation.
  • Demonstrated integrity and deep respect for relevant rules and regulations within the pharmaceutical sector.

Pay

Base salary for this role will consider multiple factors, including candidate qualifications, relevant expertise, specialized skills, and industry experience in complement-targeted therapies. The targeted base salary range for this position is $138,000-$200,000.
