About the role

The Hematology/Oncology Physician will play a key role in providing exceptional care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans. The candidate will conduct and participate in clinical research, contribute to the advancement of malignant hematology, maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities, educate and mentor medical students, residents, and patients, and provide expert consultation to other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a partnering team of specialists encompassing 37+ specialty care and hospital-based service lines
  • Provide exceptional care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans
  • Conduct and participate in clinical research, contributing to the advancement of malignant hematology
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities for patients
  • Educate and mentor medical students, residents
  • Develop strong relationships with patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their treatment journey
  • Participate in tumor board meetings and provide expert consultation to other healthcare providers

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Michigan
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology residency program
  • Experience working with culturally diverse patients
  • Familiarity with and fluency in any of the following languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepali, and Bosnian

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Board certification in Hematology/Oncology
  • Experience in clinical research and clinical trials
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
