Section of Benign Hematology, Department of Pulmonary Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is recruiting for a clinical faculty member committed to a career in benign or non-malignant hematology.

About the role

Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating non-cancerous blood disorders in cancer patients, as well as assessing and managing individuals with non-malignant blood conditions outside the cancer context. The successful candidate will engage in non-malignant hematology research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the institution.

The selected candidate will become familiar with appropriate funding mechanisms to support cancer-related benign hematology research and assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees. Protected time will be provided to lead and develop programs, perform research, and complete scholarly activities aligned with the Section’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat non-cancerous blood disorders in cancer patients and individuals with non-malignant blood conditions.
  • Engage in clinical and/or basic science research, particularly in cancer-associated thrombosis.
  • Pursue scholarly activity and scientific accomplishment, including writing and communication.
  • Develop and lead programs, perform research, and complete scholarly activities with protected time.
  • Assist in mentoring young faculty, fellows, and trainees.
  • Seek and secure funding mechanisms to support cancer-related benign hematology research.

Requirements

  • Commitment to a career in benign or non-malignant hematology.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, scientific accomplishment, and skill in writing and communication.
  • Experience in clinical and/or basic science research (cancer-associated thrombosis experience strongly preferred).
