Hematologist Oncologist
About the role
MaineHealth Cancer Care is seeking a Hematologist/Oncologist to join the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at its Sanford location. This role offers the opportunity to practice in both a large academic setting and a community environment, with options to be based fully in Sanford or split between Sanford and South Portland.
The MaineHealth Cancer Care Sanford practice is located in Sanford, Maine, a family-friendly historic mill town in York County. Sanford is surrounded by the scenic Sanford lakes region and within easy driving distance of coastal beaches in Kennebunkport, the White Mountain region in New Hampshire, and the arts and dining scene in Portland, Maine.
Work environment
- Affiliated with Maine Medical Center and the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network
- Flexibility to focus on hematology subspecialty or general hematology/oncology practice
- Encouraged participation in subspecialty, system-wide multidisciplinary tumor boards
- Access to a subspecialty clinic at the primary MaineHealth Cancer Center in Scarborough/Portland for candidates with subspecialty interest
MaineHealth is a nationally recognized integrated care system that delivers highly coordinated, state-of-the-art cancer and hematology care across a network treating 7,600 new cancer patients each year. The cancer and hematology programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and include a fellowship training program and robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups.
Ideal candidate
- Prior experience in hematology within an academic health system or academically oriented private practice is preferred
- Strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will also be considered
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary for this position is $520,000. Total compensation packages may include, based on eligibility, recruitment payments, relocation assistance, productivity incentives, and quality incentives.
