About the role
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in an established hematology and medical oncology practice affiliated with Maine Medical Center, an integral part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. Hematologists within the practice evaluate and treat patients with a range of benign and malignant hematologic conditions, and are supported by specialists throughout the MaineHealth system.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients with a range of benign and malignant hematologic conditions
- Participate in subspecialty, system-wide multidisciplinary tumor boards
- Support a 1 day/week subspecialty clinic at the primary MaineHealth Cancer Center in Scarborough/Portland for candidates with subspecialty interest
Requirements
- Prior experience in hematology within an academic health system or academically oriented private practice is preferred, although strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will be considered
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology and/or Medical Oncology residency program
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
