Responsibilities
- Provide second-level technical and system support to all company personnel.
- Act as a liaison between customers and the IT department, performing queries, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for internal IT systems.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, compatibility, integration, and support of all personal computer hardware, software, and networks.
- Lead and maintain operational aspects of computers, peripheral devices, and communications equipment in the company data center.
- Monitor performance and utilization of system hardware, software, and networks to ensure optimal resource availability (CPU, disk space, response time, network connections).
- Control and monitor job processing on multiple iSeries systems and escalate issues as necessary.
- Maintain and install new releases of operating systems, utilities, applications, and hardware upgrades.
- Create and maintain user profiles, menu options, and system security.
- Answer data center calls and facilitate resolution of Help Desk tickets through collaboration with appropriate departments.
- Follow system backup schedules, maintain media tracking, and manage off-site storage.
- Provide task leadership, tracking, and weekly status reports to supervisors.
- Inform the Director of problems or potential issues in a timely manner.
- Utilize and maintain system audit software to ensure compliance with software license agreements.
- Refine technical and business skills through training, conferences, and professional organizations.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere and develop strong working relationships across departments.
- Proactively assist others in achieving organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of data center experience.
- Familiarity with operational aspects of CPUs, peripheral devices, and communications equipment.
- Solid technical skills and ability to research and resolve complex technical problems.
- Strong communication skills and professional interaction with all employees.
- Associate’s degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
