HELICOPTER MECHANIC
About the role
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Special Operations Division, Aero Bureau is seeking a Helicopter Mechanic. The position requires a minimum of three years of full-time experience in the repair and maintenance of turbine-powered helicopters, with one year of that experience in responsible charge of repairs and overhauls to return "certified" or "non-certified" helicopters to flight status.
Responsibilities
- Gathers and interprets information from a variety of sources to troubleshoot, guide inspection, and perform maintenance repairs.
- Maintains AirBus AS350 Helicopters by performing daily, periodic, hourly, and other inspections as required by manufacturers, FARs, and/or County policy.
- Completes forms and makes logbook entries to document maintenance and report issues.
- Performs tasks such as cleaning, using various tools and equipment, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural problems.
Requirements
- A valid Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
- A valid California Class C Driver License or equivalent.
- Three years' (full-time) experience in the repair and maintenance of turbine-powered helicopters, with one year in responsible charge of repairs and overhauls.
- Physical Class 4 – Arduous: Frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces.

Skills
Knowledge of procedures used to inspect the Airbus AS350 B2, maintain and repair Airbus AS350 B2 engines, airframes, accessory equipment, and safety principles. Mechanical comprehension is also required.
