Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanic
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on commercial motor vehicles in accordance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure all equipment meets DOT compliance standards
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Accurately document service, maintenance, and repair activities
- Inspect and maintain brakes, tires, lighting, suspension, and driveline components
- Perform mobile and field repairs as needed
- Complete all repairs efficiently while meeting safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with fleet managers, equipment operators, and team members to prioritize maintenance needs
- Maintain compliance with inspection requirements and documentation for annual DOT inspections
- Adhere to all company safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
- Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations and FMCSA standards
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and standard repair procedures
- Self-motivated, safety-focused, and highly detail-oriented
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- CDL Class A or B preferred, or the ability to obtain one
- ASE certifications are a plus
- Construction industry knowledge and experience preferred
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work on or under vehicles and equipment for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds in varying conditions, including shop and outdoor environments
- Occasional driving periods exceeding one hour
- Ability to work in both hot and cold weather conditions
