About the role

The Dispatcher coordinates the daily movement of freight, equipment, and drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time transportation services. The Dispatcher serves as the primary communication hub between drivers, customers, maintenance providers, and operations leadership while maximizing fleet utilization, maintaining regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatch drivers, tractors, and trailers based on customer requirements and equipment availability
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and provide proactive customer updates
  • Coordinate permits, routing, and delivery requirements for heavy haul shipments
  • Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and equipment repairs with maintenance providers
  • Track fleet availability and equipment utilization to maximize productivity
  • Maintain dispatch records, shipment documentation, and operational reports
  • Support yard operations, trailer staging, and equipment movement
  • Resolve operational issues, scheduling conflicts, and service disruptions
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, vendors, and operations leadership

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Business preferred
  • 2–3 years of dispatch, transportation, or logistics experience
  • Heavy Haul or specialized transportation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and ELD systems
  • Experience with transportation management software (TMS), GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office

Pay

The expected base pay for this role is between $46,000-$57,500. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
