Heavy Equipment Truck Driver

About the role

This position is responsible for driving a heavy-duty tractor and trailer to pick up and deliver products sold and serviced by Raymond West.

Responsibilities

• Operate a heavy-duty tractor and trailer during normal working hours.
• Pick up and deliver products sold and serviced by all departments within Raymond West.
• Follow directions from the Sr. Logistics Manager or designated dispatcher and adhere to the daily transportation schedule.
• Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including maintaining a driver's logbook and participating in random drug testing.
• Obtain customer signatures on receipts for pickup or delivery of products and document the condition of equipment.
• Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
• Follow all department procedures for asset movement, identification, and storage.
• Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, and accurate fashion.
• Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside).
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
• Report all accidents immediately, regardless of fault or situation.
• Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
• Work overtime when necessary and coordinate with the assigned supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
• Drive safely with tall equipment requiring permit loads and double-check all traffic routes.
• Work out of town as necessary.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Department Manager/Supervisor.
• Follow all procedures outlined in the company’s Employee Handbook.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 2 years of driving experience handling heavy equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current, valid, unrestricted Class A California driver license with no more than the allowable level of points on record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Willingness to work off-hours as needed and assume additional responsibilities when required.
• Must follow department mandates and procedures.

Travel

This position requires daily travel within assigned territories and occasional out-of-town work.

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary position.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and job sites under construction.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to smell, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors such as relevant experience, education, and work location.
