About the role
At EquipmentShare, we’re hiring a Heavy Equipment Traveling Field Technician (Mechanic) to support our branches in Virginia and Maryland. This role requires traveling in Virginia and Maryland.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create, assign, and monitor work orders
- Track machine service intervals
- Order parts
- Diagnose issues faster using data from hundreds of makes and models
- Work smarter, not harder with real-time information
- Practice safe job practices for repairing equipment
- Use technology (laptops and tablets) comfortably
- Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on various rental and customer equipment
- Aid in the training of lower-level technicians
- Document work performed in a complete and timely manner
- Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts
- Stay knowledgeable of OSHA requirements (preferred)
- Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer-owned equipment
- Maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
Qualifications
- High School diploma or trade school certificate preferred
- Experience in field service, maintenance, and repair preferred
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle
- Ability to move, stand, stoop, and bend freely
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be clean-shaven for certain customers' requirements
- Must pass a 10-panel drug screen

Pay
- Tech I: $22-$30
- Tech II: $27-$35
- Tech III: $32-$40
- Tech IV: $37-$45
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours. On-call scheduling with additional compensation provided.
