Heavy Equipment Technician - New & Used

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our New & Used Shop at our Billings, MT Branch.

About the role

This position focuses on diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar equipment. Ideal candidates enjoy solving technical problems and are effective at troubleshooting.

Hourly Range: $29.95–43.25 per hour (based on skills and experience).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment, including removing, repairing, assembling, and installing components.
• Troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Use CAT diagnostic equipment, repair tooling, rigging, and blocking equipment.
• Plan and organize work with an emphasis on controlling job costs.
• Investigate, analyze, and identify problems to recommend solutions.
• Complete paperwork efficiently.

Requirements

• Graduate of a 2–4 year vocational technical school or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, hydraulic/mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, and pressure washers.
• Good mechanical aptitude and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook).
• Physical ability to stand for up to eight hours per day, including twisting, bending, squatting, sitting, stooping, and kneeling.
• Experience at a Caterpillar dealership or with CAT products is ideal.
