Heavy Equipment Operator - Urban Forestry

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of medium and heavy motor equipment, machinery, and tools on public works projects including construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal streets, parks, and grounds, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems.
• Transport construction equipment and machinery to and from work sites.
• Perform pre-shift equipment inspections, routine lubrication, and maintenance of equipment.
• Perform manual labor as needed.
• Oversee the work of Laborers and Motor Equipment Operators on specific assigned projects.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• Must possess a current and valid NYS Driver’s License AND current and valid CDL.
• Must have one year of full-time paid experience in the operation of construction heavy motor equipment OR two years of full-time paid experience in the operation of lighter to medium construction motor equipment or lighter to medium public works equipment.
• Experience in forestry or arboricultural work desired: pruning trees, including dangerous limbs; tree and stump removal; plants and prunes trees; transports tree trimming and other public works materials and equipment.
