About the role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for loading, pushing, and transferring solid waste material in our transfer station. The ideal candidate will maintain the facility efficiently and professionally, demonstrating teamwork and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty equipment such as excavators and bucket loaders, along with smaller machinery.
• Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation.
• Understand machine capabilities and limitations.
• Follow hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings to comply with safety specifications.
• Receive and follow written and oral instructions for material movement.
• Move materials over short distances within the facility.
• Maintain efficient workflow by loading transfer trailers to target weight and reducing traffic congestion.
• Create and maintain inclines or ramps.
• Repair machinery and replace parts as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Equipment Operator (sanitation industry experience strongly preferred).
• High school diploma or GED (higher education a plus).
• Fluency in English (Spanish bilingual a plus).
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• At least 18 years of age.

Work Environment

Daily exposure to physical elements including odors, loud noises, and weather conditions.

Schedule

Rotating schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, followed by 3 days on, 4 days off.

Pay

Hourly rate: $24.33 USD.
