About the role
Moves residential and commercial garbage to the appropriate areas in the landfill according to site plans. Operates various heavy equipment including dozers, compactors, motor graders, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, roll-offs, water trucks, backhoes, scrapers, and sheep feet.
Responsibilities
- Operates heavy equipment safely and proficiently for waste disposal purposes.
- Operates a mechanical, side-loading packer truck to collect solid waste on designated routes, including streets and alleys.
- Lifts mechanized containers using hydraulically operated arms and compacts refuse using hydraulic rams.
- Detects and reports improper equipment performance, making necessary operational adjustments.
- Performs related work as required.
Requirements
- At least five (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- A valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) class A or B.
- A valid Texas Driver License.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in equipment operation and solid waste services.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety rules and precautions of operating heavy equipment.
