Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Operates commercial vehicles (Non-combination Class B vehicles up to 64,500) such as dump trucks, hook lift trucks, knuckle boom trucks and roll-offs.
- Operates farm style tractor with attachments to include mowers, brooms, fertilizer spreaders, planters, front-end loaders and backhoes.
- Operates skid steer style loader with attachments to include augers, forks, buckets and mowers.
- Operates truck carrying fuel, lubricants and lubricating equipment, performs routine field lubrication of light, medium, and heavy rolling stock and equipment.
- Transports equipment with a light trailer.
- Performs daily safety inspections of assigned equipment prior to and after use.
- Performs routine service and maintenance.
- Operates a variety of minor powered machinery and equipment; and participates generally in the laboring work of the crew as workload demands.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent;
- One (1) year experience in the operation and routine maintenance of moderately heavy construction and automotive equipment. A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Licenses and/or Certifications
- Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment with a driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program.
- Possession of a Florida Class B commercial driver license is preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
- Knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of medium and heavy automotive and similar equipment.
- Knowledge of the component parts, operating principles and maintenance needs of medium and heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the operation of medium and heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and other regulations governing the operation of equipment on construction activities.
- Skilled in the operation of moderately complex construction and transportation equipment.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Work requires moderate exposure to one or more disagreeable conditions (i.e., irate customers, inclement weather, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, odors or dust).
- This position requires some exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, etc.).
- This position may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include completing and successfully passing medical evaluations.
- Stooping, sitting, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pulling, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
- This position requires frequent lifting of 25-50lbs and occasional lifting of 100lbs and carrying up to 100lbs.
Work Location
Not Eligible for Remote Work -This position is assigned to a county worksite. Due to the non-portable nature of the essential functions of this position, this position is not eligible for telework.
