Heavy Equipment Operator Night Shift

Shift: 8:30pm - 7am, Monday - Friday

About the role

Martin Marietta is seeking motivated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team at the Weeping Water Mine. Operators will safely operate heavy equipment in an underground mine environment, primarily running scalers or haul trucks, with openness to operating other mining-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate all other mobile equipment, including haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader, and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment; report needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimum supervision.

Requirements

• Strongly prefer previous experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read equipment operating manuals.
• Ability to complete pre-shift inspection reports.
• Ability to communicate in English via radio or CB.
• Basic mathematical aptitude for completing daily reports.
• Ability to wear all required safety equipment.
• Ability to perform duties safely.
• Ability to read and interpret gauges.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Good hand/eye coordination and ability to operate hand/foot controls.
• Good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet.
• Ability to climb on and off equipment for operation and servicing.
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and reach around mobile equipment.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy environments.
• Ability to work at various heights.
