Heavy Equipment Operator Night Shift

About the role

Martin Marietta is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator and Plant Maintenance position at their Durham mine. This role operates under immediate direction of the supervisor and includes both heavy equipment operation and plant maintenance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile heavy equipment such as haul trucks, motor graders, water trucks, loaders, and cranes to transport raw materials from the pit to the plant.
• Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently at maximum loading capacity.
• Work the night shift with operating hours of 8PM-6AM.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment.
• Report necessary repairs to shop personnel.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be able to operate all types of mobile equipment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio or CB.
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection reports.
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Maintenance, welding, military, or material handling experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual a plus.

Skills

• Ability to read and understand equipment operating manuals.
• Basic mathematical aptitude for completing daily reports.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment.

Pay

$24.80 an hour + $2.40 for shift and underground differential.

Schedule

Works the night shift with operating hours of 8PM-6AM.
