About the role

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill. This role involves assisting in off-loading trucks and unloading waste, operating equipment to stabilize and handle waste, processing treatment of materials and containers, sampling post-treated materials for testing by laboratory, loading cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal, performing general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
  • Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
  • Processes treatment of materials and containers.
  • Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
  • Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
  • Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
  • Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 or more years related experience.
  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.90 to $30.07* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
